Why do we need the money?
- As Guelph's only campus and community radio station we rely on listener support for the continued operation of our radio station.
- Mainstream stations depend solely on advertising dollars to survive. At CFRU, we are devoted to providing as few on-air commercial advertisements as possible. As our advertising budget is, therefore, very small, we must seek funds for our operations elsewhere.
- Listener support for the station will allow us to decrease our dependence on advertising, allow more technical development of the station, provide more opportunities for students and community members and let us do more outreach to build bridges between the campus and the community.
How is CFRU funded?
- CFRU is funded by a University of Guelph student fee and listener support. Full-time undergrad students pay $6.10/semester and grad students, $2.50/semester. Despite this support we still need to raise $24,000 to run the station for the next year. That is why we run Raise Your Voice, our main funding drive.
How much do we need to raise?
- We aim to raise $10,000 during this Raise Your Voice campaign.
Is Raise Your Voice the only funding event this year?
- No, we have to do many different fundraising events each year however individual events only bring in a few hundred dollars each time. RYV is our main fundraising drive.
How do we donate to CFRU?
- Listeners can donate to CFRU online, by phone and by mail.
- This year, we are encouraging listeners to use a more convenient donation method and donate online by credit card or PayPal.
- Donations are accepted 24/7 at donate.cfru.ca.
- Listeners can also call (519) 837-2378 (CFRU) to donate.
